A topic that comes up regularly at the Craft Shows is “Do you do workshops?”
Many people are attracted to the creative element of Needle felting and many also find Needle felting to be a very therapeutic practice, with the bonus of your own finished artistic creation at the end of a your session.
We do hold felting workshop sessions. Our own premises is not suitable for holding classes and we are constantly looking around for host venues. If you have a suitable venue, anywhere that a small group can gather around a table or two in which a class can be hosted we would be delighted to come along and meet with your group. Castle-Craft can supply tools, materials, and experienced expertise to guide your group through a felting class.
At our workshops all participants are provided with a bag containing all the materials and tools (which you can take away after the session) required to complete your needle felt project.
At Castle Crafts we believe that mindful crafting is a therapeutic and creative way to reduce stress and foster relaxation. Engaging in hands-on activities allows the mind to focus on the present moment, creating a sense of calm and accomplishment. Mindful crafts for adults offer an outlet to express creativity while cultivating mindfulness. Felting can help you relax, recharge, and reconnect with your inner self. At a Castle Craft felting workshop you can discover not only the joy of making something beautiful and but also the therapeutic benefits of engaging in mindful, creative practices.
…and progresses…
… until, … A bag of wool has become individually crafted needle felted creations…
… which proud needle filters take home to show off.
Or a seasonal bauble.
Castle-Craft is based in Devon. A long journey time reduces the useful time spent at the venue so we are only able participate in Craft Fairs and workshops at venues in Devon and occasionally in East Cornwall or West Dorset.
Tools and materials unpacked, and after a brief introduction the felting begins…
We suggest for a first session in Needle Felting your group is guided through creating a Felt Figure from start to finish. Perhaps a Mushroom Person.
OUR NEXT WORKSHOP SESSIONS.

A proud first time felter shows off a finished Castle-Craft workshop project.
A nest of mice, line up for their end of workshop session photo call. This happy gang was created by a group of first time felters at a Castle-Craft workshop session in Okehampton on 15th February last year.
These figures are created around a rigid wire armature and so are posable.
Other workshop sessions have included Sculpted figures and Creating landscapes in Needle felt.
This article from the Independent dated January 29 2026 is about motorcycling and mindfulness. But the benefits of mindfulness are not restricted to motorcycling. The article goes on to observe that for some people, stillness is not the route to being present. Sometimes, mindfulness is found not by slowing down, but by moving – fully, deliberately and with purpose. (Think of the Zen monks and archery). And that while traditional mindfulness practices may not be suitable or achievable for everyone, there are alternatives. Activities which demand full engagement – mentally and physically (like motorcycling or playing a musical instrument)– may offer similar psychological benefits. Purposeful, absorbing activities can help regulate emotions, sharpen attention and reduce stress over time.
Creating a felt figure or picture is a purposeful, absorbing activity that demands full engagement.and is not as scary as riding a motorcycle or as frustrating as learning an instrument

Each crafter is provided with a bag containing all the tools and materials needed to complete the project.
In the centre are examples to follow, pre-felted project basic sections (in case anyone gets behind) and alternative colours and decorations so that each crafter can create their own individual project.
Following these simple designs will give your group the chance to practice the basic skills and techniques to create their own finished Felt Figure by the end of the session.
